The Last of the Mohicans was pretty much the only action movie Daniel Day-Lewis ever starred in (Gangs of New York does NOT count).

I'm more interested in the assassination and ensuing manhunt than listening to talks about the 13th amendment. Had high hopes, but definitely waiting for video after hearing reviews.

Wait. Wait.

Let me get this straight......

A movie about a president was political????

Well, shite. I'm not even going to watch it now.

Reviews have been stellar. 91% on Rotten Tomatoes with an average rating of 8/10. It's currently at 86/100 on Metacritic with a rating of "Universal Acclaim." That's pretty damn good I'd say. Just go in expecting a procedural drama and not a Civil War film and you'll be good.

Bad word usage on my part. Reviews all say it is a great movie, I'm talking about the subject matter.

I enjoyed it, but knew going in, it was about Lincoln's last days, and the ending of the war, and slavery.

It was pro 13th amendment. Not sure that makes it left leaning.

I had a hard time with this movie. I saw it on little sleep while hungry and the old English talk with little action made it a chore. While Daniel Day, JGL, and Sally Field knocked it out of the park, I was bored throughout. The film was way too long. BTW, it was bs we didn't get to see the one moment we were all looking forward to in the shooting.

Googled who was cast as JWB just the other day, was extremely disappointed to learn the assassination was left out.

I was afraid it may just turn out to be a "Lincoln freed the slaves" movie, what say you?

Who was it? When I googled it, the results still had Neeson as Abe and said JWB would be played by either Clooney or Depp.

The imdb page doesn't even have JWB listed, last I checked. I skimmed through another article that said SS didn't want to exploit the assassination, so I took that as the assassination not having more than very minor screen time, if any. I'd be more inclined to watch if I knew the plot included JWB leading up to the assassination, the assassination itself, and the events following.

Thanks, that is what I have been hearing. I heard they didn't even show the assassination.
