I went from "Straw Dogs" to "Funny Games" to now this new one, "Chained" shite is crazy. Funny games was by far the most effed, but this one is good. It's in Red Box now. Give it a shot. The synopsis on IMDB doesn't give it justice, so don't bother. If you like watching crazy shite, this is a good new one.

Which one?

I've seen the remake with Naomi Watts, and it was just okay.

The only similarity between that and this is that there is a chain in the movie. Other than that, not even close.

I've seen both of em, but yes I was speaking of the remake. I can definitely understand why you say it's just okay as a movie in it's entirety, but to me that kind of psychological torture is some crazy shite. When I was at LSU my roommate and I were flipping through the movie channels before heading to a party, and the movie kept us glued to the TV so we pretty much missed the party.

Chained is directed by David Lynch's daughter which intrigues me.

Yeah, that's the remake. Came out in 2007.

The original is from 1997 (I've never seen it, but heard it is better than the remake).

The original and the remake are the exact same movie with the exception that they are in different languages. There was a point made for them to be scene by scene identical.

As for this movie, it is very interesting that it is directed by David Lynch's daughter. Blue Velvet is one of the better and more disturbing movies that I have ever seen. It will be interesting to see if she inherited some of his brilliance. I'll have to check it out.

I've read that before...I just remember when I've talked about it before on here (before I watched it) someone had said that the original was better. I don't remember why though. I guess maybe in a similar vein of the Vince Vaughn shot-for-shot remake of Psycho wasn't as good as the original..?

I liked Funny Games, just not as much as I was wanting to. I like fricked up movies like that though. For comparison, I thought The Strangers was awesome.

The actors' interpretation of the characters can make a world of difference.

The interesting thing about Funny Games for me was that the creator used a horror movie as a platform to deliver an anti-violence message. Although lots of violence happens in the movie, very little of it is actually shown. This is the creator teasing you. He knows that you want to see the violence, and he is making fun of you for wanting to see it.

The director of both the original and remake of Funny Games is extremely talented.
White Ribbon was amazing and was very disturbing. His new one appears to be a change of pace and is getting a lot of amazing reviews and won the Palm d'Or
