Why are Gay & Women movies almost always about Sex?

Gay movies dealing with gay sex issue/community
why aren't they as diverse as they claim they to be?
Lifetime television- any sci-fi going on? any murder mystery not about cheating husband?

Because women tend almost solely enjoy films that focus on emotion and not action or coherent plots (although this doesn't go for all women of course). Thus they tend to be focused on sex, while in male oriented films, sex is merely icing on the cake rather than the main goal. And any film that has to do with being gay tend to focus on finding someone to frick.

Philadelphia was a Gay film not focused on sex, and it was really good, but can't think of any other gay film that wasn't about sex.

John Carpenter's The Thing was a gay movie and there was very little sex and it was an alien form of sex at that.

I would give it a pass because it was just setting the dynamic and not necessarily about a personal relationship.
But it's kinda the same with Music too.
Is it that they are stereotyped and basically force fed/pigeon holed into that type of media (barbie,pink,knight on a white horse) or is it because they actually like it better than actual creation of original ideas?

Because chicks are more into the emotional movies (the sex in those movies is generally the emotional kind, not the random-pick-up type).
It's all about appealing to your customers and apparently that's what those groups are most likely to pay to see.
