The first 4 years of playing them I don't think we lost a game to them. Last year they made some moves and won state.

99% of kids who play in these academies don't ever play pro ball

Not a good investment and a waste of money

If your kid is good he will be good playing rec/all star ball and establishing himself in high school.

I remember all the kids I played ball with in high school whose parents spent money on select teams and academies and such, and only 2 of them played college ball(none in Division 1) and none of them got drafted.

Yet Jeremy Kerley(Jets receiever) never played select ball or for a academy and has been drafted twice and had several D1 baseball scholarship offers.

When I was managing the Rough Cut league years ago the La Tigers won a ridiculous amount of games in a row. It took Tyler Moore and Aaron Johnson's astros team to beat them and it was one of the best games I've ever seen. They were all 8th graders.

If you want your kid to learn how to play baseball, you can't go wrong with Leo. My oldest son played for him for 3 years and was on the team that won 14u Elite World Series 2 years ago. We played teams from everywhere in the country and out of about 180 games over 3 years I never felt that we played anybody that had a coaching advantage.

And oh by the way of the 12 kids on that team, 8 started for their high school varsity as 15 y/o's and at least 3 have d1 offers.

Varsity? Aren't they just part of marrucci ?

Also I think Suire is in the process of building a field complex.

180 games...too much baseball! Generally, a year or two with good instruction is good for kids who love the game, but it is for the kids, not all these crazy parents, who spend thousands, allowing men to hold well- paid positions coaching kids. Parents are nuts...and 20-30 games a year, in league ball, with a few tournaments, is enough. Then move into having some fun over the summer and getting ready for football. Many of these academy type kids quit by high school, much to the chagrin of their folks...crazy!

Kids are better off playing with and against their friends from school in local rec/fun leagues until age 12. Then, if they love baseball, get them a year or two with top instruction and tournament play. They will be ready for high school!

Also, encourage your kids to play multiple sports and play what they like!

As a former head varsity coach, I am going to give you two pieces of advice:

1. Don't burn your kids out at a young age

2. Don't turn into that entitled a-hole that believes just because they spent thousands over the years on "academies" automatically implies their kid deserves to play

Point 1 is right on, too many kids get burned out before high school. My son played the travel stuff and also did soccer, football, basketball. He's a junior and only plays soccer now, got tired of baseball at 14 said the fun was gone.

LA Tigers - Cant confirm 100% but I think I heard Leo was getting out of baseball very soon.
