I hate it when they say "Ban" instead of "Suspended" in sports.

You see it all the time in article titles when regarding suspended players. It makes it look like they are being kicked off the team when in reality they are just being suspended for a game or two. It's just stupid propaganda so you will read their article.

Look on ESPN's front page right now. It says "Michigan bans 3". To me "ban" means that you will not return. It just gets people's attention so that they will click on a shitty story.
