I'm just out of college and want to get a credit card to start establishing myself some credit. Only problem is I haven't gotten any I applied for (which is only 2 because I don't want to kill my credit score). I need to get some revolving credit in order to get a card. What are some things that I can do to help? Would getting a gas card for now, help in getting a card?

Try the Discover More card. It was my first CC and I had very little credit history. Also, my gf got approved for a small credit limit with no history. 0% intro APR and rotating 5% cash back.

ETA: Actually, if you like that card I can get $50 cash back for referring a friend and you'll get $50 cash back with your first purchase.

Back when I was in college, MBNA used to just hand them out with a $500 limit. I still have the card and its my go to other than American Express now. Limit has grown quite a bit on it but the best part...

Less than 10% interest

You can apply for quite a few in a short period without it impacting your credit, the score assumes you're shopping around and doesn't penalize you. If you want to apply on websites for a half-dozen or so, go right ahead.

I've used that card so much. My first credit card. The worst credit card ever.

Then Bank of America bought them and it got 100x's better. There are no benefits to the card though literally no rewards. Low interest rate now. Went from 23.9 to 9.9 but there is worse out there.

They signed me up for that damn credit insurance when I was in college and I didn't notice for like a year and a half....

Now there is a class action suit against them for this

I've heard so much stuff about them, I'll never do any cc's or bank with BOA.
