Rangers/Justin Upton

Maybe I'm missing something, all the diamondbacks wanted was either Elvis or Profar for Upton? I don't see why the Rangers wouldn't give up one, especially Andrus since be is only under team control for two more years, seemed like a no brainer. What am I missing?

D-Backs don't need a SS anymore

A young controllable AS level SS or a potential superstar middle infielder (Profar) was not worth giving up for Upton.

Yes this I know, and that's because the Rangers wouldn't deal. Also why I asked the question. Why bother posting if you had no intention of discussing it

Upton isn't getting moved.

And to answer your question, because Andrus/Profar have a lot more value than Gregorius.

Gregorius has a great glove and nice speed, but he's weak with the bat, has no power and doesn't steal any bases.

Great

I was always hoping for Asdrubal Cabrera, though not for Upton.

Because it's a lot harder to find a great shortstop than it is to find a great corner outfielder.

True, but the Rangers have two, and most likely will lose Anrus in two years. They have talked about moving Profar to second and Kinsler to first but Kinsler has said he doesnt really want to

And Kinsler doesn't have the bat for 1st base. Maybe if you can move him or Profar to CF, it'll work. But 1st? You need a bopper there.

The Rangers inaction is killing them this offseason. It's like they are afraid to remake a team that desperately needs remaking.

We don't know this. We don't know what's going on in the trade talks. I would have loved Grienke but not for around $150MM. I would have loved Shields, but not for the stiff price.

I would have moved Kinsler if I could.

The team will be fine. Let's let the winter play out.

I thought he would be moved to center. He has the speed, its just a matter of learning the position. They need a 1b and a Solid DH. I think they make more moves when they sign or drop out on Hamilton
