I just shared these pictures in a thread where the OT was talking about drowning. I thought you guys may enjoy. I posted them before, but we have a lot of new members and I'm bored at work...
This wipeout occured on the Class 5 Pillow Rock Rapids. We went rafting the weekend LSU played WV.
I'm back right corner and found myself unexpectedly underwater at the point I needed to take a breath. I realized I was about to die, but just happend to pop up just in time. You can see me gasping for air. A woman did die in the same spot the next day.
Another OBer hapened to be there that day with a diffent guide service, but we didn't connect until we both came to the OB to post about the trip.

I've rafted that river with the same guide service.
when we went they intentionally threw us out the boat. It was when you get in the eddy and paddle back up stream into the class 4. I was front right and went face first into rapid, flipped out spun around under water a few times and popped up 50 yds down in the eddy.

Yeah, they did that to some dude in our group. He tried like hell to swim back upstream to the boat he was in. Poor guy fought it for a long time before he gave up and drifted downstream to one of the other boats.
