How cold is too cold to leave a lab outside during daylight hours?

She has an igloo style dog house and a large fleece blanket in it.

I don't think it's ever been too cold around here during daylight

We used to let him in when it froze. Or put a space heater and towel outside the back door

As long as they're dry I wouldn't worry about it. It would need to below 10-15 with no sunlight. That dog house holds a lot of heat.

Never in my opinion, but thats not what my gf thinks. A lab can take any weather around here if it has shelter. Now if its a smaller dog with not as much weight to it I would reconsider.

When it's this cold, 30's, mine sits in the sun on the grass. She stays warm.

during daylight it is not a problem. As long as they can stay dry, my dogs love the cold. The lay out in the sun all day rather than inside their dog house most of the time.

I only bring mine in at night when it gets below freezing. They are outside during the day regardless.

i used to bring mine in when it got below 25 at night. When cold, he would just get on the mulch pile and enjoy the warmth produced by the decaying leaves. During the day, he would get in a spot that was sunny and out of the wind.

Had a golden once that had icicles on his fur while duck hunting. Never even shivered.

Thanks for confirming my beliefs. The wife was all upset when I told her I left the dog out this when left for the stand. Its 20 here but I told her " Labs dive in the water and retrieve ducks in colder weather. She is dry and has a house and a blanket. " before I even asked yall.

It's definately not too cold today.

That said, I guarantee you that my lab is sleeping in the middle of my bed with all four legs up in the air.

My labs stay outside and it never bothers them. They have a house with hay all in it, one of them is hell bent in never getting in the house, have actually seen her with it in the 20s jump in her pool and break the ice splashing around then go lay down and go to sleep. They are made for cold and wet
