I shite you not
I wonder what's going to be the musical number when Captain Vidal bashes the boys skull in with a wine bottle.

Break stuff by limp bizkit
eta: I would actually see this, I love Pan's Labyrinth and I normally hate sub-titles. I hope it is the darkest fricking musical of all time, children are scared to see it and women love it enough to give blow jobs.

I just don't understand this. There isn't much dialog in this film, and the majority of it is delegated to the entirely despicable villain, who is among the worst in film history. This just isn't a film meant to be adapted into a musical. Sure, it will only take like 4 or 5 sets, but the protagonist just doesn't seem to be the singing type, neither does the villain. Everyone is just incredibly depressed in the film, and I don't think that makes a good musical. I could understand it if there was absolutely no dialog maybe, but that's it.

In a weird way, that sort of makes sense to me. It is a very "theatrical" film as it is. And it's fantasy. I can sort of see how it would work.

If Evil Dead and Point Break can be made into musicals, anything can.
In all seriousness, it all depends on the adaptation. I don't think it's as big of a stretch as some others.

I have never seen an overly depressing musical though. I'm rewatching the film as we speak (guess it gave me the inspiration), and I see no room for musical numbers in it aside from when the fawn appears.
