Their program is about to become irrevelabt. Some if the candidates they have interviewed have been comical.

Every day they go without making a hire is doing more and more damage with recruiting.

I don't get it? The guy WANTS to coach. Why not offer him.

If I was a HC making the choice between USM and WKU, I'd have to choose WKU. USM is a dumpster fire right now.

They just exchanged a home game for a road game for a guaranteed payout, which makes for a tougher job for whoever their new coach will be.

the fact that he's going to Western Kentucky means nobody even wanted him so it's not just USM

I'm actually starting to get concerned for them right now. Bundy you know how much I hate USM but I'm ready for them to go ahead and get their coach. If they don't then they're going to end up with some clown as a coach and finish in the 100's for recruiting.

It was the only way they could afford to get rid of Ellis Johnson. I don't see how you can blame them for making that move.

Having said that, Western Kentucky may be the better place to go for Petrino right now. Really expected him to be in Lubbock.

There are rumors that an announcement could come tomorrow. Rumors also say it's down to Anderson, Monken and Fritz.

He will be at WKU for 2 years, maybe 3.

If I was Southern Miss, I'd try to get a guy that will stay for at least 5 or 6 to rebuild that program.

Petrino was looking for a VERY quick stepping stone back into major college football.

That's what everybody said about Johnson."He won't be looking to leave. He'll retire here". That didn't work out.

I want somebody that will win while he's here. I don't care if it's for two years or five.

Ive never gotten the infatuation that Southern Miss fans have for this guy, he was only Fedora's OC for 2 years. He isnt a good recruiter either.

I live in Hattiesburg and most of my family are Southern Miss grads, I keep up with Southern Miss and want them to do well in football. I have some fond memories going to Southern Miss football games back when I was a kid.

No they didn't make a mistake. Petrino is and has been a cancer at every stop he has made.

Petrino will be out of WKU within 2 years. WKU will be back to where they are today, looking for a new head coach, and possibly trying to repair another dumpster fire left in the wake of Petrino.

You guys are right about Petrino leaving a mess. Dude left a mess at Louisville, and then interviewing with AU. That cast a cloud over Tubbs the rest of the time he was at AU. When you know your bosses want you out, it's only a matter of time.

Then the Atlanta fiasco.

Then Arky.

Dude definitely leaves his crap in the toilet after he finishes using it.
