It's not fair for poor kids to get free money, while other kids (who parents have money) get cut off at 18 and are on their own to pay for school. The kids are equally poor, but only one ends up in debt when graduating.

Ridiculously over abused by the folks at SLCC and BRCC. Most of which blow the money at a bar and or pot. All of which will go on to get remedial jobs. Eliminate that program until we can balance a budget.

Agree. Eliminate federal student aid of all kind.
Easy and surefire credit to ANYONE WHO frickING APPLIES is a guaranteed way to create a misallocation of resources.
Cost of college vs real wages started making its momentous climb when the federal government started getting involved in the loan game.

It's 23. My income information had to be on my daughter's FAFSA for all four years of college. If she goes to grad school she can file the FAFSA based on her income alone and should qualify again for any grants that are available.
Under me she got nothing, nada, zip, zilch in aid.

I disagree. I was one of those "poor kids" who got them and I'm very grateful for them to help with my education. To clarify....I still had to take out student loans(which I'm still repaying) so it's not like you get THAT much. Back when I was in school I think I got maybe $2000 a year in pellgrants if even that.
So your "only one ends up in debt" is false. At least research before you start bitching.
