| Experience with off-brand memory foam mattresses? (Posted on 12/7/12 at 11:28 am)
Someone on here yesterday (I think it was Cast Away) linked me to a site where you can compare different types of beds and different brands within each of those types. Memory foam mattresses were rated as high as anything while spring mattresses were the lowest. To my surprise, the lower cost brands of memory foam mattresses scored as high or higher than more expensive ones like Tempurpedic based on large sample sizes. Anyone have experience with these beds?

I saw at BB&B they had little memory foams to put on top of the mattress. Like your standard egg crate, only memory foam. I was thinking that could be a worthy addition. $150ish, maybe.

check it out I bought one of these after hearing about it from this site, actually. It sleeps fantastic and costs nothing compared to your tempurpedics. 600+ reviews and averaging 4.5 stars...tough to beat that.

They are all the same, it's not rocket surgery to make a square of foam.

Someone bought us one from here. Something about the thickness of the mattress and the type of top matters on firmness. We have had it for 3-4 years and still really like it. Would recommend.

Think it comes down to the number of air bubbles per cm^2 and all that jazz. Probably securing the phosgene necessary for the endeavor would prove hard for most.

going on a year now. I really really like this mattress. I don't wake up with back pain or anything anymore like I used to. I don't have to deal with dips in the bed like my old pillow top mattress had. If anything bad ever happens to it, it's so damn cheap (for a bed) that replacing it just isn't an issue. Even if it only ends up lasting me for 5 years, I'd buy another one in a heart beat.

I've had trouble with brand name foam. Always had back trouble, so I took the plunge and dumped 3 grand on a Tempurpedic, because their policy was " if you don't like it, return it." Tried it for a few weeks, and it did nothing for me. If I'm going to wake up in pain, I'd much rather do it on cheaper mattress. Called them to come pick it up, and it was like a major ordeal. Had to raise hell to get them to pick it up and give me a refund (and that was one of their main sales pitches when I bought it).

I purchased an off brand foam mattress a couple years ago. I can't remember the brand. It was around $500 and I haven't had a single problem with it. Obviously I don't know how it compares to a Tempur pedic but it works for me for a fraction of the cost.

I have the Nature's Sleep 12" memory foam matress and it has been one of the best investments i have ever made. Groupon has it every now and then for $699 and the "suggested" retail price is $2700. Definitely worth the money!
