Not sure if already mentioned, but Wilbon and Kornheiser actually really like the switch from Hornets to Pelicans. Had a whole segment on the name change.
They said the Hornets is still too associated with Charlotte (I agree) and the Pelicans is a great mascot for a Louisiana team.
Not usually one to care what PTI has to say, but was just surprised to see someone in the media liking the potential switch.

Local Radio host in this area also like the name Pelicans since it's associated with Louisiana's state bird, on the flag, part of the seal, etc.
He thinks it should look like Tulane's Pelican and not some mean looking Pelican

If it has to do with Mike Wilbon or Jason Whitlock, I'd be shocked if they can go a whole segment without mentioning race.

They dont use their pelican logos much, but I guess they're kind of mean looking. For pelicans atleast.

Their baseball jerseys have two Pelicans on a bat, similar to the St. Louis Cardinals' jerseys.

Not sure if this has been brought up yet. But the Bobcats are looking to change names as well. Could NO sell the name rights back to Charlotte, so they could be the Horents again?
