I would not be a bit surprised to see Brandon Mitchell back at QB in a similar role that Russell Wilson played for Wisky in 2011.

can Mitchell pass well?

pretty important question; from what i've seen mitchell is not an extremely accurate passer especially when compared to a guy like russell wilson.

i'm thinking he was doing the black QB = black QB comparison w/o thinking it through.

you listed some qualification necessary for the Ark HC. none of those seem to apply to BB. did you change your qualifications list post hire to make yourself feel better?

Same here...it took me a little bit to warm up to it. I had to do a little bit of research on him.

Whatever makes you feel better

ETA: It's interesting how many LSU fans are trashing the hire.

I think it's a fine hire but basically the polar opposite of what many arkie fans thought would be a good "fit".

now a day later with time to "think it over" they're all warm and fuzzy with it. you've convinced yourself of something you previously thought to be untrue basically because you have no choice.

i think yall got a coach who can win football games. i dont think he has what it takes to compete annually in the uber competitive SECw. i think hes like mullen at moo st- he'll win the games he should, but wont have the players to compete for the west crown. he'll pull off an upset every few years of an SEC powerhouse, but simply wont recruit enough to be a major player in the SEC west.

What did most fans say specifically that would make you believe we feel this is not a good fit? Not ONE fan...Arky fans period....what?

1) need a great recruiter because arkansas is a desolate wasteland devoid of any football talent
2) great QB developer
3) innovative offensive mind

you got an average recruiting (generous), non-qb developing, pro-set smash mouth style offense having head coach.

I'm starting to understand

drexyl= idiot

I was not doing the black QB= black QB comparison.
Mitchell is not as accomplished as a passer but he as a good arm and is mobile. A bigger version of Russell Wilson.
My apologies to the simpletons here that have to go racial on everything. That was not where I was headed.

brandon mitchell has two things in common with russell wilson. he's a quarterback and he's black. Russell Wilson's strength comes from being a highly accurate passer not just a "good arm". Calling Brandon Mitchell a bigger Russell Wilson is laughable.

their skill sets unless you reduce it down to simply "run some" and "throw ball" are completely different so making the suggestion that Mitchell play the "russell wilson role" in BB's offense is pretty ridiculous.

Are you from El Dorado? If so are you the OC there? Eldo is my home town and my dad is a coach there.

We did as well as we possibly could with this hire. The bigger names wouldn't budge. BB will make us competitive pretty quickly. Not sure if we can get back to 10 win seasons in the next few years but this guy is a good program builder who will do good things at Arkansas. Anybody who says differently is a troll, or a Malzahn loving Hog fan

that's kind of how i see the hire

not a great/amazing hire, but arkansas isn't going to get a great/amazing coach very often

it is what it is

To be honest, I didn't read through a lot of the gnashing threads about Miles after the "offer". I know well enough your own fans trash him plenty.

You know the real reason most sensible AR fans wouldn't have been very impressed with Miles. THIS is something Bielema DOES possess....his "shitty" recruiting in relation to wins and BCS bowls point to this fact.
