I'm sure it's been discussed before but I couldn't find it. I have a son who will be 7 in Feb and he has a PS2 at his Mom's. I wanted to buy him something for Christmas but am not sure what my best option is. Thanks

I would say a Wii U for a 7 year old. More kids games and it's the newest system out. You get a PS3 or Xbox and you chance them coming out with the next gen system next year or so.

Good luck finding a WiiU though.

The WiiU is the newest but for a 7 year old, the regular Wii will probably be ok too.

OP, what does he like...game wise

I know he has a PS2 now. He plays some batman and spiderman lego games and some racing and fighting games as well. I don't mind spending whatever it takes to get the best option

Give this thread some time and you will get legit answers. I think most of the GB dads are either gaming or changing diapers.

I would go Wii over WiiU for a 7 year old. The controller on the WiiU might be too much for a 7 year old to master.

I disagree solely on the fact that all Wii U's can play and upscale all Wii games. It's compatible with all Wiimotes and Wii accessories, so get him the new one so you won't have to buy a new console for several years.

The new xboxs and play stations are coming out next holiday season. So personally so wouldn't get one of those. If its a younger kid, I would like at a Wii anyway. You can get one for less than 100$ and you can stock up on games

Thanks. From what I've seen and heard he's pretty good for his age.

My opinion is to get him whatever the new handheld Nintendo thing is. Maybe the DS is the newest. Not sure. But get him that and then in a year or two the new Xbox or play station system

I feel like he would probably like the handheld better and much more games for kids and they are cheaper.

Whatever you do I hope your kid has a great Christmas

Thanks. He has had a DS for a couple of years now but has pretty much advanced past it. He only plays it on long trips or trips to his grandmother's now. He is pretty advanced for his age.

WiiU is perfect for him then. That would be my suggestion.

I don't read to much on this stuff. Is it looking like there will be a new next gen system from Sony or Microsoft that soon?

The small arse town that I am from was sold out of them at Wal-Mart and GameStop. It's selling quite well.
