A bit of Warren Zevon

Those who have been around for a while know my admiration for the work of Warren Zevon. I really miss him and thought I'd post some of his music:
I love the guitar in this one:
Carmelita
Underrated:
Vera Cruz
The song I play in my car when I drive to court for a jury trial:
Lawyers, Guns and Money
From his last appearance on David Letterman. Remember to "enjoy every sandwich":
Roland The Headless Thompson Gunner
We all have this problem:
My shite's fricked Up
A fitting good-bye:
Keep Me In Your Heart
My Favorite:
Desperados Under the Eaves
He had so many others. R.I.P., WZ

I hate that version -- LR cannot sing rockers, she has no sense of humor, and I don't know if a female should sing it anyway
I hated the song until I heard WZ's original

So, I guess you hate her version of "Carmelita".

Her Carmelita is not as bad as her PPPM. IMHO with a handful of exceptions ("Long Long Time") LR's best work were her Songbook albums with Nelson Riddle et al
Frankly I don't care much for the '70s El Lay school aside from WZ

Agree. I had the "What's New" album and she did a great version of "Someone To Watch Over Me".

Warning to the board: I may start a Great American Songbook thread sometime

He was also part of an extremely underrated supergroup - Hindu Love Gods
Raspberry Beret
WZ + 3/4 REM = pretty close to perfection

The Motorcycle Abilene - "(You Used To) Ride So High" -- Recorded in 1966, unissued until 2003
ETA: Just discovered this version:
Warren Zevon - "I Used To Ride So High" -- Unissued until 2007; a Zevon fan site says it was probably recorded in the 1970s
