| So, the Mars Rover did not find Martians after all, it appears . . . (Posted on 12/3/12 at 12:47 pm)

"We have no definitive detection of Martian organics at this point, but we will keep looking in the diverse environments of Gale Crater," said SAM Principal Investigator Paul Mahaffy of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md.
So, what was the big surprise? I thought that people were saying that they found something.

there were stories more recently that said the big statement by the scientist about a great finding was misinterpreted. They backtracked.

AlaTiger Do you know about the monolith found on the moon of Mars? Even our own astronauts talk about it.

Let's throw more money at it! Jesus Christ. Worry about our own planet first. Biologists geologists and whatever ists that make a killing off of this funding with nothing to show for it are just the epitome of upper class liberals. Name me anything actually relevant to REAL LIVE people that a so called scientist has done lately and I don't mean the medical field of course (the real doctors) If it was up to me playing science would be a hobby not a government funded waste, go ahead and make scienceists a religion already and give them tax exempt if you want but stop burning American dollars

Are engineers scientists? Because I'm pretty sure if you say yes, then you are an idiot. Also, Biologists feed you and Geologists give you fuel. You're a complete idiot.

The space program has allowed us to make strides in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, astronomy, chemistry, biology, geology, and numerous other fields. Think of where communications would be if not for the space program...satellites, the internet, cell phones... I hate government spending as much as the next person, but NASA is a drop in the bucket and the benefits are countless.

Do you think MDs are the ones developing new drugs and new diagnostic techniques?

[typing from his computer over a wireless network] ...Is that your cell phone ringing, or was that just your microwave telling you your burrito is ready? NEWSFLASH: Technology = applied science.

Sometimes I think the Amish got things right. People worship technology these days instead of life or spiritual growth

That is true to an extent, but very different from what you first said. Sabbath was made for man, not man for Sabbath. Same with technology. Aldous Huxley has a great lecture on this very topic.

When's the last time you went to a doctor? Did you have any tests done? Have you ever seen someone put in those big expensive machines with pictures coming out of them on the fancy light box? Those medical breakthroughs are the results of Scientists, not medical doctors.
