| Far Cry 3 Discussion (Posted on 12/3/12 at 10:59 am)
I have had it and this game is so much better than 2. They nailed it with this one. The story is good, fun side missions, awesome map design, huge open world, hunting dangerous animals, fun sniping, great voice acting, etc. I have enjoyed it so far.

I've been kicking around the idea of getting it. I'm one of the few that actually enjoyed the 2nd one. Just finished watching gamespot review. I have a $5 GameStop credit burning a hole in my pocket and a couple games I want to trade in. How many hours do you have in to it?

Too many. I am almost finished with the story, I have already opened up all the towers and bases for my use, done tons of side quest, etc. I should finish the main story today and then go back and finish up some more side quest. I easily have over 25 hours in it but I goof off a lot. If you played the story straight through you would maybe get 12-14 hours or so out of it.

I'm really wanting to get this and trade in Blops2. I have a baby on the way so I won't be getting to play too much online anymore. Are they supposed to be releasing any DLC's down the road?

I've put about 10 hours into it so far, and it should definitely be GOTY. Picture the open world style of GTA, but with COD gunplay, set on tropical islands, with skills you unlock (like sneaking up on someone and stabbing while grabbing their knife and throwing it at another enemy). It's incredibly fun. It looks pretty awesome on medium settings on PC (it's the first game I've played that I couldn't run on high settings), so I'm sure it looks great on consoles, too.

It's Ubisoft so I am sure there will be plenty of DLC. It has multi player too FYI. It also has a map editor you can mess around with on PC that's fun.

Don't be. I thought Far Cry 2 was pretty awful after messing with it for a couple hours. This game is a whole 'nother animal, with plenty of content packed in to keep you busy. It is the most fun I've had with a game since probably Uncharted 2/3. eta: Btw, I'm very picky with games. I rarely bother with a game unless it's excellent (except maybe NCAA ).

Yeah that's what I was thinking. It would definately be unlike Ubi to not release any DLC. Anyway, this game seems like a much needed change of pace to the FPS monotany. How is the multiplayer?

It has some Uncharted elements to it for sure. Wait until you get the wing suit. Pure fun. Sometimes I climb to the top of a mountain now just to glide down it. Cool wing suit video

For some reason, this testimony just really got through to me and i want it now I actually enjoyed 2. I loved the realism of having to go in the little sheds to get guns and shite

I think I've noticed that we have the same taste in games before.

Good to hear. I absolutely refused to pick this one up until I heard a lot of stuff like this. 2 was just beyond awful. I may pick it up after finals, though.

I just beat it. Awesome story. Going to play through again to get the other ending. Yes there are two endings.

Did you also enjoy the realism of "get the gringo"? Or the realism of weapons bursting apart in your hands?

Nevermind. Just watched the other ending on Youtube. I got the better of the two IMO.
