Alfred Blue medical redshirt

Has anyone heard any chatter about the status of his request, or if one even exists? According to Wikipedia, medical redshirts, "...may be granted an athlete who appears in fewer than 30% of his or her team's competitions (with none coming after the midway point of the season), then suffers a season-ending injury."
So by that definition, he totally qualifies. two more years of him would be clutch. But i guess you could make the case that he'd probably leave after a good third year, anyway.

What about this post is head-bang worthy? I've found nothing about him in the forum search query. If you know something that I've missed, then just say it

I think it is premature to think medical redshirt this early into his career. I think they will just take this past year as his redshirt year since he played in less than 30% of the games and didn't redshirt his freshman year. If he misses time again he might be get his medical redshirt, but that will be determined later.

I thought you can't play to redshirt?

He already had a medical redshirt year. Might not be able to get another one.

Redshirts have been burned for a lot less. You can't nearly be your team's leading rusher and score several TDs through 3 games and still redshirt

I saw him out and about shortly after his surgery he said he was going to be redshirted for this year...don't know the end results as I haven't seen him since.
But I hope he was granted a medical redshirt, so that he can get this year back.

I edited my post to 30%. He played in less than 30% and not after halfway through. I think he can still take his redshirt. But the NCAA baffles me so I might be wrong.

They kept talking during the Ga-Bama game about the backup for Ga not playing a snap all year because they wanted to redshirt him and Richt said if he had to use him to win the game (due to injury of starter)he would; but if the game was not in question he wouldn't burn the redshirt. If that is accurate, Alfred would have to get a medical redshirt to have an extra year; no way to get a regular redshirt. Not sure of the exact rule for a redshirt anymore.

The second your're foot hits the field, you're ineligible for a true redshirt. There is no putting it off till later. He'll be senior next year. He and the team must apply for a medical redshirt this offseason in order for him to retain Redshirt Junior status for next season.
I'm trying to find out if there's been any chatter about his possible claim to the league

If you play after the midway point of the season you burn your redshirt. Even for one play...
The 30% rule only applies for the first half of the season.

Rule for red shirt now is one play and no regular red shirt for the year. No more of that 30% rule. I don't know how medical red shirts work but that is blues only hope for getting this year back.

Googled it, and the preview to an insider scout article gave me this
The other person talked about was Faulk

I'm not sure either would be eligible for a medical redshirt, especially not Blue, who did play in three games.

Probably a moot point. He is gone after 13-14 season anyway.
