Could NFL challenge rule be used to uphold a bad call? (Posted on 12/2/12 at 11:02 pm)
My son asked me an interesting question tonight. If Gary Kubiak knew that Justin Forsett was down on his touchdown run, could Kubiak have thrown a challenge flag, thereby making the play non-reviewable? Can a coach who is going to benefit from a bad call on a TD or turnover throw the challenge flag to prevent the booth review from overturning the call? I guess you would still get the 15 yard penalty, but who wouldn't take that trade?

I'd be interested to see someone try it, to me it would be hard to rule that out. Although you'd have to explain to the red what you're challenging I would think. I don't know

Throw it quick, challenge too many men on the field.
