We are complaining now but just wait when next year and as long as there will be a 4 team playoff--SEC teams will say SEC championship will be lose/lose
The SEC championship game will be the national semi final before the actual national semi final and the losing team will have a top ranking prior to going in then lose out on playing in championship.
All SEC teams will be upset
However, the only guarantee is: the SEC champion will always contend for the national championship.
So next year there will be more complaining than ever....

At least the loser of LSU-ALA still has a shot w playoff system. Team that loses may have better chance since they won't have to play in SEC championship game (see Ala. 2011). It's not ALL bad. Geaux Tigers!

You realize that the playoff participants are determined by committee, not rank.
It won't harm the conference. You'll have highly ranked teams out of the CG, waiting their turn, ala UF this year, Bama last year, LSU in 06, etc
