It sucks but its true.
Only thing that matters is beating Alabama...in some cases (last year) twice.
I've been to every seccg, tix were always hard to find.
Last year people couldn't give them away.
Bowl games used to be a blast wherever we went.. Anyone remember indy bowl vs Nd?
Or peach bowl vs ga tech saban first year?
All the big sec games used to be huge.. Few weeks ago we found 4 tix to USC game for 25 bucks a piece... 25 dollars.
Winning past 10 yrs has changed the culture of LSU football and it's fans.
What sucks the most is the team we gotta beat is not only in our same conf but in our same fricking division so what we all want can actually happen.
It sucks, but it's the way things are now.
Whatever.

Would've meant nothing if we beat bama.

Yup.
Fortunately we can beat them at their house and they are losing the bulk of their o-line.

and with alabama's SEC schedule, if they beat us no other game is a worry

Except that when we win, bama gets a rematch. frick the SEC

And to think I used to laugh at Tulane for caring only about beating LSU.

It'll be better next year now that Florida and Georgia are powers again. The aTm game will become big too, especially with Manziel there.

You are right for the most part. I've experienced four decades of LSU football now. The scheduling nowadays is lame because of out of conference opponents. The league is favoring teams without question (give me a tin foil hat; I don't care. I'm older, but I'm not blind.). Our fanbase has been radically altered, just as the sport has.
Let's fact it. LSU football is having to pay for all the sports that no one could give a damn about. Seriously, I respect what all of our student athletes do, but unless you are one of those athletes or have a connection to them, you're not going to watch swimming, or track, or volleyball, or gymnastics. But by damn, you're still going to pay for it. Anyone who says keeping up with the Joneses hasn't killed the atmosphere in Tiger Stadium from a week-to-week basis is fooling themselves. Yeah, we still get up for Florida and Alabama. We get up and scream if we are facing an SEC foe and things are going the way we thought they would and all of the sudden we are in a game (which has been quite often under this coaching regime), but it's different. Certainly, having to watch rent-a-win teams hasn't helped, and giving up home games to play neutral site games is the next atmosphere killer and disservice to the fans in a long line of f-yous to the fans.
So, not only has it basically become a one game season, it's also become a postseason where it's BCS, Cotton Bowl, or bust. Atlanta is a tired scene for us if we are going to the National Championship game, and the Peach Bowl might as well be the Independence Bowl.
We live in a poor state that is gutting our university academically to the point that we may not be viable in the future to even stay open to field a football team. Hell, one accreditation group is already threatening to pull its certification.
We're in the minority of the SEC voting bloc with Florida. The scheduling issues will not change as long as we have an AD who openly states that it's not about championships. Our dumb luck championship in 2007 is unlikely to ever happen again and, outside of 2011, we aren't going to be the type of team that blows out opponents week in and week out with this coaching staff. We'll lose games we'll all feel we should have won or we'll beat teams by the minutest of fractions that we should have no problems with.
Yep, lot of ranting here as the name of the board implies. Yep, we beat USCe by two, aTm by five with them turning the ball over repeatedly, and played the mighty Tide down to the wire. We also squeaked by an Auburn program in disarray, left our offense at home against Florida, and closed the season out by struggling against Ole Miss and a an awful Arkansas team.
Funny thing is. I went to every game at home. Watched every road game, and cheered my head off to "help" the team keep Alabama out of the endzone and to stop Ole Miss from winning the game after that missed extra point.
LSU has me as a fan. It has since the '70s when I was born. I'm going to cheer and support the players no matter what (within reason). But it's sad to watch what used to bring so much enjoyment for everyone turn into entertainment that can't be enjoyed by the common man because we have to support crap none of us care about. It's sad to watch our team and university be the forgotten program whenever the SEC doesn't need to use us because its bell cows are performing again. And it's sad to see our AD allow us to be kicked around.

My life has changed in past 10 ( wife and kids) so it doesn't sting as a bad as it might would have.
I don't like the neutral site crap, but I'd rather haveva trip Athens and a home game vs fla than uk and tenn.

True Dat. It is what is is for now. Give 'Bama credit they are beating us and that's their edge. We did get a rough deal this season with all the player problems and injuries plus a very brutal schedule but despite all that all we needed was a little better gutsy play calling down the stretch in Ala. game and we are in the BCS title game again. Can't blame the players totally. It was a combination of that, tough scheduling, and chicken shite play calling by the coaching staff when it mattered most. Still a great effort for the season - all things considered. I'm proud of LSU's effort in 2012 even if they have nothing (goals wise) to show for it. Sometimes that's the way it is. They would do very well in a playoff this season IMHO.
Geaux Tigers!
