Can anyone explain why exactly this is necessary?
I mean, even if you are an admitted big time statist, surely you would draw a line somewhere, right? Or is that naive of me?
What purpose does this serve?

Surveillance drones are already being deployed in local PD's, funded by the FedGov. Of course, that's in addition to the vast CCTV networks setup.

THIS IS A VERY GOOD IDEA. IF YOU'RE NOT DOING ANYTHING WRONG YOU HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE. IF YOU'RE A CRIMINAL OR A TERRORIST YOU DESERVE WHATEVER YOU GET. Because they can. No other reason is necessary. Your employer will do the same thing, if he's allowed and has the technology. People are naturally snoops.

If so, then I really am not bothered by this. The internet is like a street corner. If you post on the Internet, you might as well be screaming on the street corner. I don't see it as private.

But that wouldn't make it any better for you, would it, if your neighbors could put a tracking device on your car, for example? Surely you wouldn't be down with that? So it's not that the state has the authority to put you in prison that bothers you about this, is it? Isn't it really the feeling of intrusion?

No, their monopoly on the initiation of violence is my primary concern. With sufficient data, enemies of the state could be labelled and dealt with in an expedited manner.
