Guy selling a Remington 700 BDL. It's a bit older, maybe 30+ years. Some wear on it, but overall good condition.

Comes with a Tasco Golden Antler 3-9x40mm, which is a pretty cheap scope.

He wants $400, but will take $350.

Should I buy it?

Why not?

My hang up is it's age. BDL's from the 80's had extractor problems.

Offer him $250

The scope doesn't add anything to the value IMO, and it's an old rifle.

shite I sold a 3 year old tikka for $300 with leupold bases and rings. You could find a much better deal than what you're looking at.

What caliber? And I'd give him 400 all fn day. 350 a smoking deal. That bare action is 400. And new actions aren't as good as those old ones. So as a donor it's a good deal, if it shoots well it's a great deal.

Not bad. I paid $500 for it I think and the rings and bases were about 100 bucks. I used it for three years and didn't like the caliber. Saw a little stoeger sxs .410 that I wanted for $300, so I sold the tikka for 300. Somebody got a good deal and I got the gun I wanted.

That damn tikka looked brand new

I don't think it's a good deal, but if you want it go for it

Yea if you think it's a fair deal and it's worth that price in your mind, go ahead and buy it and kill some stuff with it.

For goodness sake get rid of those see-thu mounts though
