It is the perfect example of why self-reliance is so important — because when the government can’t protect you anymore, you have be able to protect yourself and your family.

i believe they've already made cuts everywhere else and police/fire make up like 75% of the city budget (a lot of that is pensions, though)

Could be, I dunno. But the bolded part has impact on "locking doors and loading guns". It's a typical scare tactic to change nothing, imo... "Raise taxes on somebody else to pay for what we want or the children will all perish!!!"
