Ok, let me ask you a question. Should it be legal to sell vodka to kids?

If adults want to drink it, fine. But I question whether these types of drinks should be openly sold to kids.

Don't let your kids get them, and teach them healthy vs unhealthy instead of letting the government becoming their guardian.

Yet a 14 year old girl can get the morning after pill or an abortion without her parents consent or knowledge.

Why would you assume I agree with that?

Vodka is 1000x more dangerous than energy drinks

re: Re: Energy Drinks; NY to Ban to "Minors"

Now you are dodging the question. Based on your answer, I assume you think it should remain illegal to sell vodka to minors. But why? I thought you were all about liberty and personal responsibility?

My point is, you want the government to be the guardian of your kids in certain situations, too. But wait... why don't you just teach your kids right from wrong like you told me to do?

Anyway, I think energy drinks are dangerous for kids. If a parent thinks they are okay, then they can buy them for their kids. It shouldn't be illegal for kids to consume the drinks... just for vendors to sell them to kids.

That way it is up to the parents. Kids can drink them. Parents can still parent. Win-win.

I agree, so long as you extend that logic out to things like marijuana

Amen. People have died from drinking too much water so the government should also regulate the sell of water and consumption of it so minors don't consume it.

I think Marijuana should be legal for adults just like energy drinks.

But I think marijuana should be banned from kids just like energy drinks.

I'm all for personal responsibility when it comes to ADULTS. But rules should be in place for kids.

That doesn't make me not a small government type. Adults should be able to do what they want.

I don't

I do

As usual, people buy into media hype scare tactics and overreact. 5 people have died from Monster Energy Drink (presumably) in a year and people now want it banned because a 15 year old had a heart attack on something that contains 5 times the amount of caffeine you can get in a normal soda. Typical American overreaction.

It isn't just caffeine that the drinks contain. If you notice, many of them don't contain much more than a cup of coffee. Yet they give way more of a kick than coffee does.

Cool, go ban them. Kids will just go back to amphetamines like they have always done.

Big brother mentality is here to stay anyway.

And you do want the government to protect your kids in certain situations because you think the sale of vodka should be banned from kids.

It was better substitute than cocaine when you wanted to continue a drinking spree at two in the morning.

This isn't about Big Brother. You are taking this stuff way too far. Adults should be able to do whatever they want. But kids aren't rational enough to make their own choices at their age.

Actually it is about Big Brother. For kids and their choices, there's this thing called PARENTS that you might have heard of.
