Why have the Dunder Mifflin workers never seen their show?

[Possible SPOILERS for The Office?]
Its become apparent to me that the workers at Dunder Mifflin have never actually seen the footage of the realty show/documentary that they are the subjects of.
It's never really hit me before, but last night when Oscar was wondering if Angela knew about the affair he was having with her husband, i realized that the Angela must have never seen the footage from the past few seasons. Otherwise she would realize that her husband is definitely gay.
And has her husband never seen the show either? because angela and dwight were boning for a while but the senator doesnt seem to know about it. If my wife was featured on a television show or documentary i would absolutely watch it.
And all the confessions they make in the solo interviews should be pissing their co workers off whenever they see them on TV.
I'm sure there are many many examples of the employees not knowing things that were revealed many seasons prior.
So this leads me to also wonder what the hell the people behind the cameras are doing.
If none of the Employees have seen the footage, then:
a) This documentary will be the longest documentary in history and only released after the final footage is collected (season finale).
or
b) There isnt really a documentary being made and some pervert is wasting tons of money following them around with cameras.
WHAT IS IT?!?!?!

Well, when Michael left he mentioned being made aware of when the documentary was released, leading the audience to believe that the footage has never been released as a finished product in The Office universe.

Creed is obviously creepy and Toby is sneaky creepy

It's a scam by their competitors to spy on them.
It's why Dunder Mifflin has had financial difficulties.

Since when do mockumentaries prevent good writing?

I think it's gonna be revealed that it's not really a documentary. I mean... how did Pam never know that Jim was in love with her?

they are used to provide an entirely different framework for the characters to thrive
David Brent/Michael Scott acted the way they did because of their inner desires to be entertainers. Having them be on a documentary and "playing to the camera" adds to the comedy in that it shows how inept, out of touch, and unrealistic their self views are

The documentary Hoop Dreams was shot over 10 years.
So there's that.
So there's that.

Parks and Rec and The Office (especially season 2-5) beg to differ.

What?
Parks and Recreation is one of the best written comedies on television.
How about the documentary style Arrested Development used? Does that make it a poorly written show?

No. Parks and Rec is very well written. Great show.

Yes, I'm not sure what's hard to get here, documentary style needs to GTFO

So two (and 3/4...The Office) of the most critically acclaimed comedies this past decade, noted for their outstanding writing, aren't any good because they use the documentary style?
Wow. Okay then...
(I'm not saying you have to like them, but in the words of Gob Bluth, "COME ON!")
