If I'm not mistaken, I think he has a small cameo in the film. Either an elf or a man of Laketown.

That's what I heard also. He is a huge fan of LOTR and the Hobbit. Should be a good wee on his show.

I love Colbert, but a large part of me wants to see him burned to death by Smaug, and I don't know why.

I like Colbert so I'll be watching and it will be funny. The Hobbit/LOTR do nothing for me though.
