Saban lost minimum 3 games per year, except for 03 season. Most of these dumb fricks still hail him as the greatest we ever had..

Stop me if you've heard this one, but the dude's about to play for his 3rd in 4. Sorry, Mickey.

No. I remember sitting in the stands watching us lose to Arkansas, believing that by all logic, we were done. Flukes of mathematics =/= brilliant coaching.

So Saban can sneak into the back door twice in 2 years, but Miles is a dufus for doing it once?

Louisiana doesn't produce high profile qb's and the running backs it does produce are big, bruising power backs.
Dalton HIlliard, Marshall Faulk, Kevin Faulk and Johnny Hector say hi.

ETA: forgot about Warrick Dunn. may as well include Travis Minor too.

I get the point here. But is it even necessary to have a "superstar" to see success, or is it more desirable to have a solid team?

I don't watch this game so I can watch RB's run between the tackles every down. I don't care how good at it they are. Sometimes, that's the hand you're dealt, sometimes not, but Miles clearly prefers it that way. As a result, LSU's offense is a perennial joke. That's the point. It's not the hand he's dealt. He wants it this way.

At least he now has QB's with pro prospects. Trust me. That's important. Otherwise, you get JJ and that farce of a CG.

It's really easy to watch another team and start posting on their message boards

In all seriousness, you should pull for another team.

It's legit to feel that way. Smash mouth isn't entertaining for everyone, but that's what LSU is offensively. LSU will be that for a long time. Miles isn't going anywhere and even after he's gone we'll still be smash mouth for another 2-3 years.

You're perfectly entitled to feel the way you do about how we play offense, but bitching about it is really silly.

Who are we considering Curley's offensive "superstars"
Even Curly had Eddie. Don't get me wrong. Miles is leaps and bounds better than Curly, but his offenses have no passion, no spark and little complexity. The talent is good enough to produce winning seasons, but eventually, the system fails.

Why do you feel this way? What would cause it to fail?

What is the precedent for a football "system" that has "failed" after 8 years of success?

Example?

Wow, '09, huh? What an eternity it's been.

I would take what Bama got last season over our "SEC title" in a motherfricking heartbeat. And so would you.

Oh, and he's about to win another one.

Jesus in Eddie Kennison's best season he had less than 800 yards receiving. That was also in the Dinardo era. If that's the bar then Miles has had double digit superstars.

The precedent? Not sure what you're asking.

Example?

Um, how 'bout 21-0 because you're the kinda guy who calls fullback dives on 3rd and 4 with all of the 4th quarter left and refuses to yank your obviously compromised retard quarterback.
quote:

that has "failed" after 8 years of success
Not what I'm getting at. It's too predictable. Again, the superior talent will garner winning seasons, but the predictability leads to critical losses and near losses to greatly inferior teams.

But hey, it's better than the 90's, right, so I should quit complaining and root for another team. Criticism and imagination will not be tolerated.

Winning seasons are great, but when you know nothing will come of it, it takes the spirit out of you. Normally, as I did in the 90's, I'd just focus on the exciting players despite the record or lack of accomplishment, but his system is so boring, I can't even do that.

He played for shitty teams, as did Todd Kinchen. Neither was going to put up huge numbers, but both were electrifying players. Do you disagree with that.

Face it. Miles doesn't like players like that. They go against his boring, meathead philosophy.

Definitely electrifying, but superstar? Not even close.
