"...was a walk-on receiver at Arkansas under then-head coach Ken Hatfield in 1984 and 1985 before transferring to Henderson State University located in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, where he was a two-year letterman (1988, '89)."
In 1994, in his 3rd year of his first high school head coaching gig, he took his team to the state championship.
In his second high shool head coaching gig, his team "set a national record with 66 passing touchdowns for the season, while quarterback Josh Floyd nearly set an individual national record with 5,878 total yards (5,221 passing, 657 rushing). Malzahn guided the Saints to back-to-back state championships in 1998 and 1999."
In his 3rd high school head coaching gig, he "took over for legendary coach Jarrell Williams at Springdale High School. Malzahn continued the rich tradition of the Bulldogs’ program. He led the program to two state championship game appearances in his last four years, winning the title in 2005 [and outscoring teams 664-118]."
His first college head coaching job was as offensive coordinator of Arkansas. In his first season as Arkansas' OC, Arkansas won the division.
After Arkansas, he became Tulsa's Co-OC/asst head coach. In his first year, Tulsa ranked 1st in the nation in total yards per game.
"Tulsa became the first team in NCAA history to have a 5,000-yard passer, a 1,000-yard rusher and three 1,000-yard receivers in a single season. Tulsa not only ranked 2nd in the nation in scoring that year, but finished with the 2nd highest scoring offense in the history of major college football. The offense was also the nation's most balanced attack, ranking 5th in the nation in rushing and 9th in passing. The Tulsa quarterbacks finished 3rd in the nation in passing efficiency, behind only Oklahoma and Texas."
[In 2009] "Auburn made significant improvements over the previous season's offensive production; the Tigers finished the season ranked 16th in total offense (2nd in the SEC against all opponents) with just under 432 yards per game and 17th in scoring with over 33 points per game after being tied for 110th in the nation in scoring the previous season."
[In 2010] Auburn led the SEC in scoring offense, total offense, rushing offense, pass efficiency, first downs and first down conversions on its way to a 13–0 record and a 56–17 victory over South Carolina in the SEC Championship Game. Malzahn was awarded the 2010 Broyles Award, recognizing him as the top assistant coach in the nation."
In Malzahn's first season as ASU's HC, he has taken ASU to a 6-1 conference record.

Most dominating high school I've ever seen in person.
The starters wouldn't even make it to halftime. Teams were already gonna be mercy ruled.
Included playing Evangel and Jenks from out of state.
They mercy ruled every opponent outside of the State Championship. They were 1 point short.
Malzhan's a hard worker and very good at what he does. His track record has shown it. He has been successful at every stop.

Troll is obvious. Why offer him 3.8 when it wouldn't take anywhere near that to get him. Plus, I wouldn't offer Saban a 7 year contract.

Malzahn is such the obvious answer. Gundy, Patterson, and Peterson would all be lovely to have, but lets face it, those guys probably aren't coming. So that leaves us with the next tier of candidates like Strong, Briles, and Tubberville. I'd honestly like Malzahn just as much if not more than anyone in the 2nd tier. If there has been a smokescreen, it could easily be hiding Mazlahn whose name does not come up nearly as much as it should in these conversations.

He just started at ASU in his first college head coaching job, he probably doesn't want to jet after 1 season, but if we offer a chunk of money, he will be sure to come and no one can blame him.

He only has one year of head coaching experience. I would think Arkansas could find someone with more experience.
