So yesterday I was playing golf with a client of mine in southern CA. He's a big UCLA fan and we were talking football most of the day and about Arkansas' coaching search.

During our round he ran into a friend of his who use to be an agent, or possible still is. At any rate I asked if he knew anything about our coach search. He didn't but did say he had either a current or former client, again the way he spoke I wasn't sure if he was still working, calling him about the LSU job. I asked where Miles was going and he said he didn't know, maybe the Cowboys (half jokingly I think)

Apparently whoever the coach was got a call from a booster asking if he would be interested if the position came open.

My first thought was Long needs to hire someone ASAP because I don't want to be competing with yet another SEC school for a coach, until today when the Miles to Arkansas rumors started.

So I guess the real question is if Miles leaves, who is LSU already reaching out to as of yesterday? And does that add any legitimacy to the rumors? I don't know just found it interesting....

ETA: We were playing at Shady Canyon which is unbelievable. I'm terrible with names but I know the agents first name was Lee.

Well it's obvious that since it was a UCLA fan, and the NCAA is about move to a playoff, that LSU has reached out to Jim Mora...Senior.

If LSU sticks to pattern they hire someone like Butch Jones or Charlie Strong. Which would be a great hire.

That is the stupidest thing I have heard!!!
A "booster" can call any coach's agent with little or (likely) NO representation of said University or organization. Hell, I had dinner with the agent of an SEC coach a month ago, and he lamented the plight of his TOP 10 football client. Just how rumors get started and recruits NEEDLESSLY question. Get a life!

Which is why I didn't run here posting this yesterday, but I didn't start the rumor. Just adding what I already knew. And the booster didn't call the agent, he called the coach directly. This is what boosters do, mettle and spend money to have their influence.

I'm not certain but I think that could be it. I was thinking Steinman, so you are probably right.

If you were at Shady Cannon, it most likely was Steinberg. He has a friend and business associate who lives there.

I thought that he was recently out of the sports agent business? Not sure. He had a bankruptcy this year and there was some sort of scandal relating to his management.

He did represent June Jones. He also was Troy Aikman's agent. I am not familiar with other college level coaches he may have represented in the past.

Steinberg is out of the representing players business for sure. He retook the NFLPA test this year and did not pass. As far as coaches am not sure if he has any clients.

Edit: It appears he reps June Jones as of 2011. His website is just a cover page so not sure who else he might have.

Do people actually pay attention to what agents are in/out if the game?

That's a little sports obsessive.

Has someone created a photoshopped pic of Les wearing the razorback snout hat yet?
