With conference champ tie ins could we see better OOC games? Similar to what we have in college basketball.

I know many teams shy away from it. LSU did until recently.

UT-OSU is the only recent big time one that comes to mind excluding traditional rivalry games. I'd love to see more.i think with the 4 team playoff the danger is still there so we will see the same ole same ole.

The incentive to play these big time match ups is low bc a loss can kill your season. With the playoff you just have to win your conference.

I'd say there should still be some exceptions....for example the big east in no way should have a team this year if it were to happen.

I think it would also make things a little less exciting. Now a loss or two likely doesn't end your season, so it's probably not as exciting.

the best way to encourage good OOC games would be to say a component of getting an at large bid is how good of an OOC schedule you played.

That would reward the best teams for playing great teams OOC - otherwise there's no incentive I can see for playing a good OOC opponent

Yes. Both those games were perennial top 5 teams.

Seems a lot of game are set far in advance, but it would be nice for teams to schedule a few legit OOC games every year instead of 4 cupcakes.

LSU seems to follow the mold of 1 decent OOC game and three cupcakes. Last year was an exception.

personally I'd love it if every great program tried to play one other great program OOC per year - I could give a shite less if Alabama plays Duke or USC plays Minnesota... those are cupcake games posing as something respectable.

I'd much rather see a tOSU/Texas, LSU/Oregon, OU/Miami kind of matchup

LSU played Oregon last year. Bama and Michigan was supposed to be a big time matchup . Notre Dame played Oklahoma this year.

There are good OOC matchups now, just not on a large scale. But I don't think that will expanding to 8 teams will cause a vast change in quality OOC games. Teams are still gonna want to be at the top for just in case scenarios.

only the best two OOC games should be counted, so you can still play a cupcake game or two if you want
