Y'all act like we can't lose another game! You want potential wild card teams to lose because it makes it easier for us if we don't win out.

You act like the only way to make the playoffs is the 6 seed.

Truth be told, the outcome of this game has no bearing on our playoff chances. What it has, however, is a potential impact on our seeding.

Hell, if Minnesota wins today, we are only one game back from the 5th seed.

And instead of 3 teams fighting for one spot, we would have 4 teams fighting for 2 spots.

And you act like playing Chicago/GB/Atl at home instead of Atlanta or NYG on the road is worth giving up any margin of error.

And if Atlanta, Chicago, Miami, and we win today, we are the sixth seed (I believe, I don't know the tiebreaker with Minnesota).

Beggers can't be choosers. The last two SB champs went 9-7. I will take that with a Lombardi trophy every single year.

Seriously, who even thought we would have a realistic shot at the #6 seed the way we started? Plenty had written the whole damn season off to not having our HC.

This 49er game is a must win. The atlanta game is not a must win but it would really give us some leeway down the stretch if we beat them again. Means we could drop one to either the G men or cowgirls or Panthers and still finish 10-6. and hopefully that would lock us up the #6 seed without needing help from the bucs, vikes, or seahawks.

Yes, we have to beat the bucs again as we are neck and neck with them for a WC.

I'll say it again:

Which is the best outcome for the Saints: division champ or #6 seed?

You pull for the best outcome.

BTW, both Falcon corners are hurt. Robinson may have a concussion, which would put him in jeopardy of playing on Thursday, and Samuel looks to have a shoulder injury.

So if we TCB this afternoon, things look better to cut the division lead to 2 games on Thursday night.

And we can be that next week too. But if Chicago and Atlanta winning today, the chances of being anything better than the 6th seed are pretty much gone.

If we continue winning, Minnesota and Tampa will fall behind us. Seattle is the only one that I'm worried about, which is why their game is the only one that I'm that concerned about.

This thread shows that just because we beat the Falcons and own them it does not mean they are a crappy team and will collapse and not win the division. Winning the division is not realistic for us right now.

If they win today, you are absolutely correct.

Remember, Atlanta has squeaked out some close wins over some bad teams. Imagine what would happen to them when the pressure is on.

Btw, the nfl redzone guy agrees with me.

Exactly. If we are within two games of them at this time next week, the division is very much in play.

As we've been saying all week, pull for the outcomes that will facilitate a division title until someone clinches it. Then you start worrying about thw wildcard.

Because we have to win out in order to win the division, that will make it easier to win the wildcard, should that come to be.

Their next three games after that aren't sure wins for them either. At Carolina, at Detroit and at home to ny. Imagine if they lost one of those. Then that last game between them and Tampa becomes really interesting. It could turn out to either give us the division or simply get the wildcard spot. If Tampa were to win today.

Yep.

And it should also be noted that after every week of games, we re-evaluate what is necessary. Heck, I'll re-evaluate things slightly based on these early games.

I can put aside my Falcon hate today, We need them to pull this one out. Besides this team is looking worse and worse every week. Oddly enough the Buccaneers are looking better and better every week.

Wow good news for the ppl rooting for tampa, you failed. If tampa won we would be 2 games back for the wildcard.

Ppl who were realistic knew we were not eliminated mathmatically, but knew it wasn't feasible to win the division. The margin of error is small, we are just trying to get in the playoffs.

I always planned for one more loss...

Heck we can still make it with a 7th loss even.
