he's off the hot seat until they lose sometime next year. Or if they get blown out by Bama next weekend. Then they'll start crying that he can't win the big game.

Their board will go into full rantard meltdown with a SEC championship loss. They will want CMR fired with Grantham.

Georgia benefitted from the easiest schedule allowed by the SEC. Only three road games (FLA is neutral) and no Alabama, LSU or Texas AM gave them a huge advantage over Florida and USCe. To get that schedule two years in a row is a huge competitive advantage. USC and UF's schedules were much more difficult.

The 2 teams playing for the SEC had the easiest conference schedules; bama had no USCe, Florida, or Georgia from the east while lsu had USCe and Florida and A&M had Florida.

This is yet another reason a real playoff is needed.

No...if he lays an egg in the SEC Champ game then he is right back on it.

I hope that Richt wins the SEC and gets a shot at a National Title.

Hot seat or not, Richt is still a mediocre coach.

Mark Richt:
- Won or tied the SEC East 6/12 seasons (finished 2nd 3 times and no worst than 3rd)
- Won the SEC Championship twice
- One losing season in 12 years
- One losing season in SEC play
- 117-39 overall record as head coach
- 67-29 SEC record

Let's compare to Les Miles:
- Won or tied the SEC West 3/8 seasons (finished 2nd 4 times, no worst than 3rd)
- Won the SEC Championship twice
- Zero losing seasons in 8 years
- One losing season in SEC play
- 113-41 overall record as head coach (85-20 at LSU)
- 47-17 SEC record
- 1/2 in National Championship Games

These guys are a lot closer than you want to admit.

Mark Richt has literally perfected the art of parlaying a squad full of NFL talent into a 9-3 season. The only schools that right now have more active players in the league are LSU and Miami. And Miami's number will soon see a huge dropoff once the 20 some odd players from the 2001 team start retiring.

People don't realize this. Richt's squads are LOADED every year. And then every year they shite the bed.

Does this make Richt a good coach? Try to stay on topic.

Lot's of ignorance going on in this thread. 50% of the UGA fans want him gone, the media created the Richt on a hot seat storm. The admin team for UGA loves the guy. He brings in tons of money and they could careless if we go 9-3 every season as long as he's profitable for the school. As far as being a mediocre coach, look up his winning percentage and the number of times he's won the East.

The only thing he has not accomplished is the National title..He has his best shot this year, so I will reserve judgement until after saturday and then the BCSNCG if he wins it..His overall body of work is solid, but he needs to win his crystal football to be in the same conversation as Miles, Saban, and Spurrier..The jury is still way out on the newcomers like Sumlin and Muschamp..We will see what they do year in and year out..You cant judge a coach on one good or mediocre season.

So based on the information given by a previous poster, you don't think Richt is a good coach?

You could say that about Les Miles too. He just lucked up and had the strangest luck of any coach alive in 2007.

Want some more comparisons:
Number of seasons with 0 losses: Miles 0, Richt 0
Number of seasons with 1 loss: Miles 1, Richt 1
Number of seasons having a chance to win a national championship with two losses: Miles 1, Richt 0, Saban 0, Spurrier 0, etc.

Seriously, the biggest difference between Les Miles and Mark Richt right now is Pitt > WVU in 2007. They both lose games they should win. They both play not to lose, and (outside of one season a piece) end up losing at least 2 games a year.
