Save your turkey bones (Posted on 11/22/12 at 4:40 pm)
Make sure to save your turkey bones for when you are ready to make a gumbo. I purposely do not cut all the meat off of the bone for the sole purpose of boiling it later for the beginning of a turkey stock for a great gumbo.

Normally, I save the carcass for gumbo but I got into a pissed off mood this Weekend. The green bean casserole turned out gross. So did the limas with ham stock. Gave it all to the dogs.
The turkey was great and so was the stuffing. But that's all I've got in the fridge for when Lucy gets up. The extra treat was gonna be corn bread from the skillet in the oven. But someone forgot to put "BUTTER" on the grocery list. And she won't eat corn bread without butter.
When she wakes up:
Me: "I was gonna make corn bread but someone used the last pat of butter without putting it on the list. Who could that have been?"
Lucy: "Must have been the dog. I warned him about that."

I already have carcass and trimming set aside for gumbo in the morning. If I wasn't such a lazy arse right now I would go ahead and make the stock tonight.
