Can we get a sticky for this since the last one was anchored
This is by far the most anticipated movie in a while. This will be truly epic. Each movie was given 300 million to make from one of the greatest books ever written.

I'm extremely pro the new hobbit movies, but TDKR appeals to a far bigger portion of viewers.
The mainstream anticipation for TDKR crushes that of The Hobbit.

You're selling the hobbit way too short. The anticipation of the 3rd LOTR was just as big as TDKR. The excitement that LOTR had has just carried over to this.

I think this movie will be well made but ultimately boring. If they are splitting the one book into three movies, the first one is just going to be setup and then them walking for a while. Maybe a few trolls to turn to stone.

It's one of the best books written by one of the best authors. It's not even close to being a nerd movie if that's what you are getting at. Just watch LoTR and you will see plus it wouldn't hurt since it won best picture and broke all kinds of records and was one of the greatest trilogies ever made

just because something is considered nerd doesnt mean its bad. my favorite all time series is one of the biggest so called nerd shows in battlestar galactica. i wear the nerd badge proudly. a movie full of elves, hobbits and wizards definitely falls in line with the nerd genre.
