"You understand so well that African-Americans, women, and members of the LGBT community have been poorly served throughout history, and now I am asking you to consider other living beings who are ridiculed, belittled, and treated as if their sentience, feelings, and very natures count for nothing,"

I respect vegans position on their diet, no matter how nonsensical it is. They don't want to be responsible for the death of an animal, nor any perceived cruelty. Great. Don't buy the products and write books about how great it is and how to combine protein using only plant sources. I'm all for that. That's freedom in action.
However, PETA has just gone completely off the reservation. The "turkey-killing industry"? Those birds wouldn't even be alive without the industry. Many, many, many animals are in the same boat - mink, chinchilla - these are rodents/weasels (whatever) raised specifically for their fur.
Cattle are specifically raised for their meat, skin and milk. If you don't like the products, don't consume them. Please don't embarass yourself by comparing this industry to the Nazis or the struggle of these animals to that of women and minorities seeking equal rights.
I'm actually not all that surprised that such a leftist group would be emboldened by November 6th, but even rank-and-file leftists have to be somewhat embarassed by this.

Not me. I have zero respect for vegans who are on the diet because they don't believe in animal torture. If these people had to grow their own crops, you think they would do it? frick no. They are only vegan because it's convienent for them. If their favorite hipster market store all ran out of veggie foods and only could sell meat, they would turn back to meat in a second.
However, I have a ton of respect for vegans on the diet for health or spiritual purposes.
PETA is a hypocritical organization that does nothing to help abused and neglected animals. All they do is bitch. Bitch. Bitch. Bitch. And I seriosuly hope liberals do not start listening to them. Meat will be banned, as will milk, ice cream, and any products that comes from animals.

PETA is a typical non profit. Their primary goal is to raise money for the people who run PETA. The naked soldiers who go out and protest are merely useful idiots.
