as little as possible. No legislation favorable to or against private unions. As little as possible.

I'd get rid of all welfare/EBT/food-stamp programs, public housing, subsidized student loans, unions, raise retirement age to 65 for all school teachers, deport all illegals and arrest all who hire them, and allow people the option to opt out of social security in favor of private retirement plans. I also would never get elected.

welfare?
It must be reformed or it will be eliminated.

I would support the FAIR Tax ACT

Unions?
I would seek to eliminate ALL public employee unions. However, I would take a balanced approach with private employee unions, sometimes siding with workers and others with owners depending on the circumstances. I believe unions can do the best for their members when they don't win every time. If unions win too often, their deals can get too sweet, leading to complacent employees and uncompetitive labor costs. My positions on other issues are well documented on this site.

Why get rid of public employee unions and not private? I am not against unions in moderation, but they too often get out of hand. MY mother is a teacher, and there have been several cases where she needed the union to back her in instances where she was correct, and being mistreated by the administration.

assuming times were better: no welfare, no income tax, drastically reduce all taxes, not pro or anti union, basically make everything the states problem and expand their rights.

Private unions are a necessary evil. Public employee unions are an unnecessary evil. The federal government already has regulations that prevent the government from treating their employees unfairly, making public unions redundant. Also, no where else do you get the opportunity to "elect" your boss and help "elect" your boss through mandatory contributions that are used to fund campaigns to get a candidate that will give you more money elected. Public employee unions are like an endless circle-jerk of corruption. They use their union fees to directly finance and bankroll elections to get candidates elected that will support union demands. These demands make union jobs less demanding, higher paying, and make union workers more difficult to fire. This allows public employees to slack off on the public dime, justifying more union employees to be hired to get the same job done due to lack of productivity. This means more employees pitching in union dues which gives the union a larger war chest to use to influence elections.

Reform entitlements, privatize social security, lower income taxes to flat rate of 10% or fair tax. Eliminate deductions, loopholes etc. States are to determine "social issues" such as gay marriage, etc. I would basically follow Rand Paul's plan to balance the budget almost verbatim. My plan to reform entitlements would follow the same plan.

I would reform or eliminate all welfare and entitlement programs. Propose term limits for senators and representatives. Repeal ObamaCare and reform medicaid, Medicare and raise the retirement age to 72. Audit every single gov't agency out there and see what we can get rid of. Abolish the dept. of education. Slash spending by 43 percent. Provide a balanced budget every year. Veto a huge majority of spending bills, hell veto a huge majority of bills because more laws only means more gov't. Taxes as low as possible. End govt sanctioned marriage and Privatize marriage. Civil unions for everybody and divorces settled under contract law. Get gov't out of unions. States are to determine their own Social issues. End the war on drugs by legalizing drugs and then taxing it appropriately. End the wars we have overseas and bring a sizable and significant majority of troops home. Repeal the patriot act and also repeal all NDAA/PIPA/SOPA like laws. ------------------ ETA: There. I would have no shot in hell getting elected with a platform like this.

Any money received can only be used for food and utilities. Period. You cannot sell your card for cash due to the fact that you have to have an ID which matches the the name on the card. Cards cannot be used at ATMs.
quote:
Taxes?
Would make severe cuts to government spending first. Then, I would determine whether or not tax increases are even needed.
quote:
Unions?
I would remove the ability of both unions and corporations to give money to political campaigns. Unions can't make dues mandatory either.

Should be further reformed. For one thing, there should be no "penalty" for single mothers actually marrying a father. More stringent work and training requirements. And, frick, if I had my way, once a mother exceeds, say, two kids, they become wards of the state with no monetary increase to her. Not sure how it would work, but that's the general idea.
quote:
Taxes?
Combination of reasonable taxes and spending cuts. Taxes are a necessary evil.
quote:
Unions?
Not sure what the question is, but workers certainly should have the right to organize.

Destroy the 70000 page disaster that is our tax code. I would then try to pass a consumption tax plan. I would eliminate social security for all people 30 years or younger. If you're over the age cutoff. You continue payign and receive. If you're under the age cutoff, You forfeit what you've already paid and never pay another dollar to that shite again.

welfare: more like Ben Franklin's philosophy --"I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it." No one will starve, but it wouldn't be too comfy. Taxes: Fair Tax + repeal 16th amendment Unions: outlaw public sector unions (both sides are negotiating with the house money). Private sector is fine, they can all negotiate with their own money all they want.

I would apply a fairly simple principle. I'd ask the same question of myself regarding my stance on anything. "Is this something the govt MUST do?" If the answer is "yes", like the military, then fund it. I mean, I'm not thinking we can or should privative the military. BUT, this is a great example because I would KNOW that like ALL govt endeavors, it is going to SUCK at efficiency. Hence, why I would always ask if the govt MUST do the thing before moving on. Anything that did not gain a "yes" to that question would have cross an EXCEEDINGLY HIGH bar to get my support. I'm really not sure anything could achieve it. I would also eliminate the entire concept of an income tax. An income tax is moronic in the extreme. We are always complaining in this nation about a poor savings rate. Well hell. We tax production for frick's sake! Tax CONSUMPTION if you must tax.
