U.S. intelligence told President Barack Obama and senior administration officials within 72 hours of the Benghazi tragedy that the attack was likely carried out by local militia and other armed extremists sympathetic to al-Qaida in the region, officials directly familiar with the information told the Washington Guardian on Friday.

Right. Same thing as if an abortion doctor and his staff are murdered in your town by a right wing extremist group but the murder was blamed on the local christian church who was protesting outside. It doesn't really matter who the police chief blames for the murders in his press conferences the next several weeks.

I've also heard that lying under oath while perjury is equivalent to lying to the American people as far as impeachment.
Watergate was denied and (surprisingly) ignored by everyone for the first few months.
There's the lie about AQ involvement.
Then, to me, the bigger issue of the stand down order.

To a degree, I can understand not divulging everything you know about the attack to protect your intelligence, etc.
But to then go out an essentially promote the ridiculous video, constantly harp about how insensitive and disgusting it was, and condemn its makers, besides unnecessary and misleading, simply encourages more bad blood towards America/ns and encourages more violence.
I've been trying to not make to big a deal about the whole thing, but it just seems like no matter how you slice it this shite was handled badly, and it's hard to believe it wasn't, at least partially, for political reasons.
