Yeah, y'all started a week before us though, so that makes sense. You're from Phoenix?

Ya, that would make sense. Yup, from Phx. Went to LSU undergrad.

Is that the same Portico restaurant as Monroe?.. as in same ownership?

Damn.. I would have guessed chances are that I may have known you IRL (given that I know most of the people from LSU that went to LSU law), but can't say that I've ever met anyone from AZ.

I graduated in '10. Worked for 2 years. But I was an athlete, unfortunately I didn't really know too many people outside of that circle. I'm really enjoying law school and getting to branch out and meet all different kinds of people now though.

That would explain it. By the way, I am regretting not doing this before jumping right back into school. I feel like I would have been some much more grounded with a little real world experience under my belt.

Yeah, same restaurant. Not sure if it is the same owners or franchise type thing.

I would've never gone back if I had done that.

Then again, I never went back, so I guess it doesn't really matter.

Love that place up in the 318. I'd imagine they bring the same type of atmosphere to this one.

re: LNST

I was tired of school and wanted to do my own thing. I graduated in '09, right when everything was starting to go to hell in a handbasket.

Couldn't do plan A, so I went with plan B. Then moved to Austin to work in government/politics. Now I'm in politics in the private sector, and hoping in about 8 months I'll get a promotion to VP with my current job. I learned a lot more in the workforce and working in the lege/campaigns than I ever could have in grad school. My humble opinion, of course.

F&D board despises the place, but I can't think of many, if any, they like. Seriously, the board turned against Rotolo's because they are "average." Wtf? They don't claim to be the best pizza in the world, they are average and charge average. If the meal doesn't blow them away then it should never be touched again.

re: LNST

I work for a state association in their govt affairs department.

I'm a field rep for north Texas, so I go around to all of our local offices and educate membership on endorsed candidates during elections, issues facing us during legislative sessions, and a litany of other issues. I also help out with local issues if a city council/commissioner's court does something damaging to the profession and the consumer.

There's more to it than that, but that's the gist of it. With this new job, I'd be back in Austin as a registered lobbyist, but during election season would be my big time.

Great analogy. Maybe we should start rating restaurants that way. F&D-4.8 IRL-7.9
