Where does this crew rank in LSU's football history?

Team had 2 losses, each of which were close. Team had incredible firepower on both sides of the ball.

AU - questionable officiating. Terrible Offensive game plan by Jimbo. Still went to final play.

Florida - Russell fumble at goal line that may have put this low scoring contest out of reach for Florida sealed LSU Fate this game.

Looking back and seeing how Jamarcus fared at the next level it makes you wonder how Flynn would've done with the 06 squad.

2006 ended strong, but that Florida loss was such a low point. Amazing talent. No reason they should've lost twice.

In my opinion the best LSU squad I've seen. If we didn't get cheated at auburn. We would have won our 3rd NC

We had a weak OL and RB corps.

Our RB were not very good that year. Alley was not the same after injury, Addai was gone, Hester was not ready, Keiland was okay but didn't really play until later when we really started clicking.

QB, WR, and defense were fricking top notch though.

QB consistency was 100% our problem in both those loses

NCAA hasn't quite seen a WR corps since Bowe, Doucet, and Davis.

How Jamarcus did in the league has zero correlation with his time at LSU.

Jamarcus is the most naturally gifted QB to play for LSU. If you don't believe me, ask all the NFL GM's that were pining for Jamarcus too.

Funny how this play has such a big impact in LSU history. Without this fumble, we score a TD and quite possibly we're playing for the BCSCG.

Solid proof that once you get to the NFL, its what you have in between the ears as much as physical ability.

UF went on to win the National Championship that year in Meyer's 2nd year.

They took some of that momentum for another NC 2 years later. Take away that one play and UF may not have 2 Crystal Trophies to their credit.

IMO, one of the big mistakes of 06 is that Hester didn't get enough carries early on. he and Addai had just pounded Miami pretty good in the Peach, they shoulda kept the momentum going.

Not against Auburn. JR was 20-35 with no turnovers. We ran for 1.8 yards per carry that game.

I think the Early play was bigger. Auburn was doing nothing against our D and it was late in the game. Jamarcus leads him and its 6 (or the refs don't pick up the flag and the drive is kept alive).

That now seems like another era, before more "naturally gifted" players like Cam, RG-3, Mariota, Manzell, and any number of mobile guys with great arms came on the scene. Jamarcus had a canon, and was big. That's all. On the next level He Looked like Rothlisberger, played like Gabbert.

Lets not forget the holding call on Herm on a WR screen to Davis that went for a TD two plays before the fumble. Looked questionable
