I don't agree with many of Javi's coaching decisions as third base coach but that is different from assessing his recruiting abilities. I suspect Will Davis has a better perspective on Sanchez's recruiting methods than either you or me. He sees it every day all year long, not just on signing day.

1. Thinking that his coworker would give anything but a glowing report on the guy.

2. Somehow interpreting that I suggested that I could recuit better than he could

In college baseball you don't recruit players first. You recruit the players' coaches. At least, that is how Will Davis explained it to me last night.

He said Sanchez has a network of coaches, both high school and JC coaches, who tell him who he needs to go see, even for players who don't play for that coach. He gave me several specific examples in the recruiting class described last night.

Anybody on here who thinks a typical player in Florida grows up wanting to play in Louisiana, well, you're just not living in the real world.

But I'm sure posters on this board know more about recruiting than the LSU coaches do.

I'm well aware how the recruiting process works for baseball. it's different than football and basketball. Most juco players will commit to the biggest name and don't care about how interested they really are in the school. FACT. And Javi isn't the only coach with connections, there are plenty of other hitting coaches that are better recruiters and actual coaches that would do anything to coach at LSU. Javi is awful at both.

Davis says Sanchez is just better at it than most other recruiters.

I have no reason to doubt Davis.

You don't think MAYBE, just MAYBE, will decided that being nice about a coach on staff would be smarter than saying how he's the weakest link on the staff?

Sanchez must be doing something right. This class is ranked #4 by Collegiate Baseball.

And that was before the last 4 recruits committed.

And if Javi is such a good recruiter tell me how he blew 3 commitments of kids from Texas, just in the 2013 class. All were ready to commit and Javi just stopped answering their calls and they went elsewhere. Javi isn't the second coming..

You're right Javi is the only coach on staff that recruits

Javi is the most overrated coach in the country. LSU recruits itself. Javi is awkward as a recruiter. And an awful coach all around.

Sure that is possible. But if he didn't believe what he told me, he could have just as easily said nothing. It's not like I asked him to critique Javi's recruiting abilities.

Your anecdotal comments about not reurning phone calls, blah, blah, blah are meaningless without knowing all the circumstances. And that's assuming what you're referring to Is even true.

Thanks anyway.

Care to elaborate? Looks like the class is full so who knows (without some detail) - perhaps other recruits became bigger priorities as the numbers started to crunch?

Please link to my post which claims that. I haven't said that, silly girl.

In fact, Coach Dunn handles all pitcher recruiting and Will Davis also recruits.

Don't be a Drama Queen.

It was before the class became this full. All while 2013 class was juniors. 1 went to TCU the other 2 went to UT. All will be drafted in the top 20 rounds

Absolutely no butt hurt, whether they went to LSU or not doesn't matter to me. It was a reference as to why Javi isn't the best recruiter in the country.

Again, Drama Queen, where has that been claimed in this thread?

Jeez, you're as bad as Lester when it comes to exaggeration.

You are the exact stereotype of a rantard, listening to someone who had one conversation with a freaking Volunteer Assistant talk like he knows baseball recruiting is ridiculous

Not if LSU follows the rules, he doesn't. He might show kids around when they are on campus, but that's about it.
