He's desperately searching for love. He hasn't had enough and feels that everyone is going to leave him (bc they usually do).
Corey has Topanga. Corey has 2 parents. Jack has money and a nice stepfather. Shawn has zero of these things.

I love the episode where he and Cory go on a road trip so Shawn can more or less "find himself". They end up stopping at a little truck stop diner where the waitresses (who I think are supposed to be hot but none are above an OT 3.5) sing a song to the new city boys, then Shawn is convinced that he's going to stay and live in this little town forever.
Poor guy has to be the most easily persuaded person ever.

I saw that one recently... it was kind of similar to the episode where Eric stopped at a diner 30 minutes from home and didn't want to leave (coming back from their summer college tour). Corey got doused in the Parade of Sprinkles and screamed "my eyes!!!". Epic.

They were 90s cute - they all looked like extras from She's All That

Also how creepy was it that these girls were singing this love song pretty much directly to Shawn and Cory, rubbing up on their faces and stuff and getting all close...after having met them TEN MINUTES AGO.

are you sure that wasn't eric?

Positive, I saw it like a month ago. It's after Shawn's dad dies so he and Cory go on a road trip to nowhere in particular. Shawn falls in love with the truck stop diner and tells Cory to go home because he's staying here forever.
(Come to find out the diner owner knew Chet, but he didn't find that out til later).

He also meets the Amish guy and asks him for a ride to Philadelphia and the Amish guy kept saying "I can take you as far as that farm house...there".

Philadelphia was out of his range.
And the old guy who recurs throughout the show saying "I was 30 minutes from home". At the end of the episode the world's greatest pie he and Corey are sharing is the size of the table.

Love that part. Cory takes his first bite of the pie and he had those redneck townies watching him eat and he goes "that is great pie" and asks "what kind of pie is it?" Then one of the joe dirt look alikes looks all confused and says "it's pie"

And the girl group from that episode with Shawn and Corey at the diner was actually a real pop singing group in the '90's called "Nobody's Angel".
