If Ivory & Ingram can continue to show they can share the carries, then Saints should free up money by releasing Thomas and letting Cadet be the #3 RB

Pierre is better than Ingram in every facet of the game.

PT doesn't make much money.

releasing Thomas

RB's aren't that valuable, but the Saints could easily get a 6th, maybe a 5th rounder for Thomas.

Did they also release Sproles in your scenario?

this, is response to trading Ingram. Looks like #28 is starting to play like we all hoped he would. Hard running, getting tough yards.

Ingram brings a different dynamic to the offense. He's not as much of a receiver as Thomas, but he's a more powerful runner. This can help the team- with Ingram and Ivory, we are starting to see a legit running threat. So he's not as good a receiver; so what? The added defensive emphasis on stopping the run will make Graham's job much easier; linebackers will be watching the backfield a little more.

Keep in mind, too, that Ingram and Ivory are still young, and PT is nearer the end than the start of his career. Ingram conceivably plays the rest of Brees' career, while PT won't.

I get that PT is popular, and I get that LSU/Saint fans hate Ingram's Bama connections. But Ingram is now "one of ours". Gotta keep the team built with one eye on the future, hence Graham > Shockey. Along those lines, Ingram might be > Thomas

Pierre sheds 1st contact waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than Ingram has done.

The Saints throw to the backs a shitload and Pierre is the primary factor in the screen game.

Ingram has looked better recently (compared to his normal crappy self). I will give him that. But you've got one back on the roster that can execute a screen pass...Pierre Thomas. Don't forget that.

Clearly.

But I'd like to see Ingram catch some more passes.

I edited to add this qualifier on Ingram:

I want that noted.
