Looking for a one man ladder stand. My dad is 75 and he isn't going to use a climbing stand and I am looking for something that is fairly portable. We have several of the two man ladder stands but they are too big of a pain to move around.

We used to have those old Apache alumninum stands but I dont' think they make those any more.

I wish they did. I had two of those apache stands and packed them all over. Once the fabric seat wore out I made one out of 3/4" plywood that cut down the portability somewhat. I've had a few of the 15' stands from academy over the years and when they dont come up missing they work really well.

Just going to bump this thread from last year. Still looking for something like the old Apache aluminum stands.

Can't vouch for it but Millenniumstands.com makes a portable tripod. May fit your need.

if you go to strongbuiltinc.com you can pick out the stand type you use to had have and press the to order online button. It should bring you to a product similar.

I got a great deal on Walmart.com a few weeks ago on a Millenium stand and the assholes cancelled my order. I went back to order it again and the price increased 10x

On a serious note, I know several people who bought the Big Game Odyssey and really like it. I purchased one a few weeks ago at Cabela's when they were on sale for $160, but I'm waiting until next season to set it up

My dad is 65 now and has smoked a pack or 2 of cigs since he was 20

not really sure how he climbs up and down our ladder stands as well as he does. He's losing weight every year and if a branch hit's him he will bleed a lot. Building our shooting houses now, I have noticed that he wants the ladder to be shorter and more horizontal. Most of our shooting houses are 6' off the ground at best

if you really want to go full bore though a combo of a stand and ladder cart from this sight would make it really nice on him. LINK

I can vouch for the millenium stands....very very comfortable. They have a PDF catalog you can browse at their site. Might have something that fits your needs

I bought an Apache stand in 1972. It was my first stand. I still use it at times.
