Broke the ice yesterday with a doe with the 45-70

Got a little lucky! 2 does popped out at about 40 yards but to the side of my stand where it's thick with limbs from the tree I'm in. Thought I had a good hole to shoot thru but must have hit a limb with the first shot. Dumb doe jumped in the woods but popped right back out like nothing happened about 5 seconds later! No limb to save her with the second shot!
