I haven't read all the posts, but I wonder how many that are calling out the crowd for leaving early were even there? The crowd was pathetic, I ate two tickets I couldn't give away, tailgating was Towson-like, etc. Yes, some of it was the blue hairs migrating off their primo seats on the west sideline early, and there were a bunch of no-shows in all parts of the stadium, but if anyone comes in here and whines about not having access to tickets and how the fans going these days have ruined Tiger Stadium, I will call BS to their face.

Good points.

My thoughts:
1) Weather was absolutely perfect (as forecasted). I was in shorts & t-shirt and it was a little cool but not uncomfortable (and I'm one who hates cold weather).
2) I don't ever recall seeing TS so "lean" for a Sat night game vs a ranked SEC opponent.
3) I think the LSU Athletic Admin has done a very poor job over the past few seasons in identifying, perserving, and promoting the things that make TS special. That said, the fact that our games are on TV and fans don't have to be in TS to see the Tigers play is a huge obstacle to overcome. Obviously, it wasn't like this pre-80's or thereabouts.

Name one stadium that leaves early for a ranked conference opponent dumbass. The weather was perfect. The offense was fun to watch. the game was competitive. There was no excuse for that many fans to leave early.

The group that sits behind us actually left in the 4th quarter of the Bama game. They couldn't wait to get back to their tailgate to booze it up. I think that's part of the problem. Tailgating and drinking has become the main event for many folks, and the football game is sometimes an unwelcome distraction.

I guess that we should be happy that the old Death Valley showed itself twice this season.

I don't know about anyone else, I go to plenty games, get there at least an hour early. I don't drink so that is not an issue to me [leaving early to return to tailgate to get drunk], the reason if I leave early is that I am a smoker..yep that is me with the cig, with the NO SMOKING ANYWHERE, and NO RETURN during a long game [4 to 6 hrs] all I want to do IS GET OUTTA THERE AND GET A CIGARETTE...if they would have a smoking area there would be no need for me to leave so I could get my smoke on.

Lol the same douche who refused to go to the games because Les made him angry, and also refused to sell his ticket so he could "stick it" to les

I was at the game and didn't leave early, never have never will. But you are the worst of worst when we are discussing shitty fans. You have no right to start to this, bitch

How staggeringly out of touch are you to not think that you are a giant hypocrite for calling people about something this minor after you were such a whiny pussy after the Florida game?

I am in shock reading this thread that you actually played this card.

The drinking is part of it, but they can also finish watching the game on TV while tailgating.

The tailgating culture is out of control and I would support severe restrictions on it.

How much the this contribute financially to LSU? I guess there is some from the parking passes. Is it a big part of the intake?

I pay for a parking pass and don't tailgate, and there are a lot of others like me, perhaps most. Conversely, a lot of tailgaters don't have parking passes, and it doesn't cost anything to set up a tent on a vacant patch of ground. I suspect tailgaters who don't buy game tickets are a net loss to the University, when security, wear and tear on buildings and grounds, etc, are taken into account. If I'm wrong, I'd like someone to show me the figures proving it.

I respect your opinion but I have a severe problem with this line of thinking.

See for a lot of people (myself included) gameday is about more than just the game. Now don't get me wrong, Saturday night in death valley cheering the finest football team in the land on to victory is most definitely the main event, but there is more to the show.

The tailgating, bourbon, food and women just amplify the appeal of a weekend in baton rouge. It's a 3 hour drive I make every single home game. It's a mini vacation for me and while I love my tigers it's the decadence that makes a Towson game worth the expense.
