Hey guys,
Started trying to think of ways to supplement my income. Thought up a decent idea that's not being done that well as of now, started a site. I'm trying to learn about internet marketing and search engine optimization to get myself on the 1st page of google, but it seems like it'll be a steep learning curve. Fun stuff, though. Pretty interesting business.

Anyway - do any of you do this? Any tips? I'm signed up with Google Adsense, Clickbank, and Amazon's affiliate program. Adsense was way easy to implement, but I'm still trying to think of creative ways to use clickbank and amazon.

I don't know if it's allowed, but here's a link to my page if anyone would care to check it out and offer feedback: Groom's guide to getting married

Definitely sign up for google analytics. Its free and show you where your traffic is coming from such as people clicking links or from search engines, etc.

I have a small business related blog that I play around with it on

Also try to write some guest posts for sites that get alot of your demographic specific traffic...my recomendation would be something like the Art of Manliness

Yeah, I got a little bit of credit from my hosting company that I need to use. I bought a gig from someone on fiverr who is designing a banner for me to use, then I'll start trying to get started with adwords.

How expensive is it, typically?

Well it generally depends on how competitive the words you are using are. Wedding keywords are going to be pretty competitive, meaning the price per click will be higher. Also you are going to be marketing to the entire world...that is going to be a lot harder than if you were say a wedding company marketing to the gulf south or Louisiana. You set your PPC and CPM(Cost per 100 impressions)so you control how much you want to spend and can put a cap on it per day or per week so you don't overspend. You should be able to get some free credit from Google for just opening your account.

Email me lighter345atyahoo.com if you have any specific questions I have some experience running adword campaigns.

Was just reading the GigaOM section of Flipboard on my iPad last night when I ran across this article linked. I fell asleep halfway through it but went and looked it back up here at the office when I saw your post.

Check this out: The $20 ad campaign: Alternatives to Google AdWords...

Will be a flooded market in a year or two, imo.

Either do it real well, or you might have some steep competition.
