Thanks, was wondering about Redemptorist. I also heard Ascension Catholic was possibly moving up to 2A with enrollment but I guess that didn't happen.

So basically it's the same as 2A now. Just replace Calvary with Parkview and you get the same schools at the top.

I guess UHS will be in Parkviews district. Maybe UHS/Parkview will be able to generate a good local rivalry to replace the Parkview/Redemptorist rivalry from the past. Look for UHS to increase enrollment in 8th/9th grade starting this year.

5A doesn't really change outside of NOLA...

Dist 1-5A Schedules
Airline... Byrd... Captain Shreve... Haughton... Parkway... Southwood
Dist 2-5A Schedules
Natchitoches Central... Ouachita... Pineville... Ruston... West Monroe (Alexandria)
Dist 3-5A Schedules
Acadiana... Barbe... Carencro... Comeaux... Lafayette... Sam Houston... Sulphur (New Iberia)
Dist 4-5A Schedules
Central (BR)... Denham Springs... Live Oak... Scotlandville... Walker... Zachary
Dist 5-5A Schedules
Catholic (BR)... Dutchtown... East Ascension... McKinley... St Amant... Woodlawn (BR) (Broadmoor)
Dist 6-5A Schedules
Covington... Fontainebleau... Mandeville... Northshore... Ponchatoula... Slidell... St Paul (Hammond)
Dist 7-5A Schedules
Central Lafourche... H L Bourgeois... South Lafourche... Terrebonne... Thibodaux... (Destrehan)(Hahnville)(East St. John)
Dist 8-5A Schedules
Bonnabel... Higgins... John Ehret (Grace King)(West Jefferson)(Helen Cox)(Chalmette)
Dist 9-5A Schedules
Brother Martin... Jesuit... Rummel... (St. Augustine)(Shaw)(Holy Cross)

New Iberia can go back to the Lafayette district, giving them 8. Destrehan, Hahnville, and East St. John can go to the Bayou district, giving them 8 again. West Jeff and Grace King can join the Jefferson Parish district with Helen Cox, giving them 7, and Chalmette would give them 8. Or Chalmette could give the Catholic League 7.

This should produce some good rivalry games. Chalmette seems a little out of place there though.

Newman finally has a shot at State in 2A, or at least getting to state.

Calvary will win 2A now. Same coaches that were at Evangel in the 90's.

I know that, but Calvary is more beatable than Evangel and JC.

If Newman can get a high seed they can make it to the semis before playing Calvary which would be awesome. Everyone else is beatable especially with Tyler getting older and better and some young kids coming in to beef up their lines.

How many years away is Calvary from being a national powerhouse?

How do Curtis and Evangel moving out of Calvary's classification help them on a national level? Just wins/losses?

Talent wise will they ever be close to late 90s Evangel? Do they run the 12 yd shot gun?

This could get ugly for U-High unless recruiting picks up even more. Lot of skill players graduating this year, being in the same district with Parkview isn't like being able to beat Episcopal 15 years in a row, and we still don't escape the college freshman playing at Curtis. Glad I'm almost done with that mess. Never want to be the lowest enrollment school in your classification, it's been a lot better being the largest in 2A.

It's gonna be fun watching the recruiting tables turn on some of these private schools. Many private schools in LA recruit it just depends to what degree. I know one LA private school that had been down a couple of years took in a large crop of kids (needing tuition assistance) who just happened to play football. It can bring a program back quick. It's gonna be fun watching Parkview sweat for a while. I realize Parkview doesn't give the tuition help like some schools but they are not above identifying young players early.
